National Center and State Collaborative

Connecticut was a partner state in the National Center and State Collaborative (NCSC) which was created to apply the lessons learned from the past decade of research on alternate assessments based on alternate achievement standards (AA-AAS) to develop a multi-state comprehensive assessment system for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Connecticut worked with other partner states and experts to develop this assessment which became the Connecticut Alternate Assessment (CTAA) beginning with the 2016 administration.

NCSC Communication Toolkit

The NCSC Communication Tool Kit includes a series of modules developed solely for use in the professional development of teachers and speech language pathologists.

NCSC Curriculum Resources

The NCSC GSEG intends to provide quality curriculum resources for educators to use and reference when delivering instruction that is aligned to the Common Core State Standards to students with significant cognitive disabilities.

The NCSC Curriculum Resource Guides describe how to teach the content to students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.

NCSC Instructional Resources

The NCSC General Supervision Enhancement Grant (GSEG) has provided teachers with quality resources that will help facilitate instruction of the CT Core Standards to students with significant cognitive disabilities.
