CTAS Alignment Study Recruitment

Oct 16, 2019

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) is currently seeking educators to serve as panelists for an alignment study related to the Connecticut Alternate Science (CTAS) Assessment.

The CTAS alignment study is required by the United States Department of Education Peer Review process and is intended to determine the extent to which the CTAS reflects the breadth and depth of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

The alignment study is being conducted by WebbAlign, a recognized leader in this area.  Experience in conducting prior alignment studies shows that educators find them to be challenging, but valuable and enriching professional learning experiences.  Panel discussions promote and enrich participants’ understanding of the standards, aspects of alignment, and high-quality assessments.  Details regarding the meeting are below.

  • Meeting Dates: November 13 and 14, 2019
  • Meeting Times: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Location: Farmington Marriott
  • Stipend for substitute coverage will be provided if requested.

The CSDE is recruiting 12 educators (four at each CTAS grade) to participate in the study. Panelists must commit to attending both full-day meetings.  Participating educators should have experience with curriculum, instruction, and assessment related to NGSS and/or teaching students with significant cognitive disabilities.

If you are interested in participating as a panelist for the CTAS alignment study, please complete the application form and return it via email to jeff.greig@ct.gov or janet.stuck@ct.gov by October 22, 2019.  Applicants will be notified as to whether or not they have been selected to participate by the end of October.
